Congressperson is fine. It's a real word that can be used to describe someone in Congress. I think it's used to organize everyone into one group on the website instead of having to separate everyone into two different groups. It's more work on the admin to put more groups and then they will have to find the gender of every single person on the website. While it is small now, if the website grows a lot, it will get confusing in the future.

While I agree with Bert in principle, and I hate gender-neutral language, jz is absolutely correct. In this instance it would create extra admin work and headaches.

I didn't know what to do, and I wasn't about to ask every user if they were a "Congressman" or "Congresswoman", so it was I that created the "Congressperson" group. I am not a fan of gender-neutral language either, but in this instance, it was done for convenience.
